Even though it is Saturday, the weekend, the General Chapter spent the full day in work. The work focused on getting to the “mind of the Chapter” on proposed revisions in our Constitutions and General Statutes in four areas: restructuring, formation, fraternal economy, and General governance.

In the first morning session, Pierre-Paul gave us a presentation on the background and rationale of the proposed revisions in restructuring. The second session was led by Franciscus Samong and Postinus Gulo on issues in Formation. This was followed by two afternoon sessions. The first was led by Dave Donnay on revisions in Fraternal Economy and the last was by Master General Tarpin on General Governance. Fr. Jozef Wouters, O. Praem, the Master General of the Praemonstratensions, was here in person to facilitate the Chapter and offer insights into canon law.

There was a lot of discussion and debate among the delegates regarding all four topics. Confreres were heavily engaged in the discussions. The aim was to get clarity on the issues, and raise objections if any, and try to reconcile the issues. There was no voting on the revisions today.

Overall, a good spirit permeated the deliberations as the day ended on a positive note. The confreres worked hard to keep unity in spirit.***
